A hack of the ACRO criminal records office on 21 March 2023 led to its website and application portal going offline.
This office in the UK provides records to police, and international bodies involved in information sharing with the UK for the purposes of immigration.
Email applications have begun to be accepted but delays have built up.
The body says there was no “conclusive evidence” personal data had been compromised but investigations were “ongoing”.
