There is a group of millions of people in the United Kingdom who bought an Apple or Samsung smartphone between 2015 and 2024 who may get a payout if the litigation brought by consumer campaign group “Which?” wins against the US tech titan Qualcomm.
“Which?” is taking the tech giant to the Competition Appeal Tribunal in London.
The trial is expected to last five weeks and is a competition and consumer action which claims the firm forced Apple and Samsung to pay far higher prices and licensing fees for essential handset components, which then pushed up the cost of those smartphones for consumers.
It is part of an emerging trend of litigation under consumer protection laws across the world from the UK, USA and Australia where law firms such as Joseph Burke Law are looking into protecting consumers.
