Zeekr, a Chinese automotive firm claims that it has produced electric vehicle (EV) batteries which charge from 10% to 80% capacity in 630 seconds.
This compares favorably with Elon Musk’s Tesla cars which require a 15 minute charge before its model 3 car can reach 50% capacity.
The batteries will first feature in Zeekr’s new 2025 model 007 sedan that should be available by September 2024.
Zeekr’s is owned by its parent company Geely which has multiple brands including Lotus and Volvo. It is expected that the technology will transfer to these brands at some stage.
Geely owns several brands, including UK-based luxury sports car brand Lotus and Sweden’s Volvo.
