A complaint has been made against TikTok and it’s parent ByteDance to the Justice Department (DOJ) by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC).
The FTC says its own investigation found firms “are violating or are about to violate the law” but so far the allegations are unknown apart from the general idea that they involve aspects of child privacy.
Tiktok is apparently disappointed by the decision, disagree with the allegations and has sated that that it had been in comminucation with the FTC “to address its concerns.”
TikTok is under a fair degree of pressure in the US.
In April a presidential order was made requiring ByteDance sell the app within a yearor face a ban in United States.
In May, TikTok filed a lawsuit to counter the legislation on free speech grounds.
