A lawsuit against META claims that the public has been mislead about the risks of using social media and that this has caused a mental health crisis to affect children and young people.
The Federal lawsuit was brought by 33 attorney’s General of US states that claim META used addictive features to trap users while lying about the “substantial dangers” of its platforms.
The lawsuit made the following allegations:
Meta had broken consumer protection laws by engaging in misleading and deceptive conduct.
META collected data on children under the age of 13.
Social media companies face an oncoming series of lawsuits in the US filed over the impact on mental health caused by tbheir deceptive practices.
This action however is the largest suit at this time.
